  1. Struggling South African newby modeller

    Hi Gents,

    I’m pretty new to the modelling hobby and I really love it. I read all the posts on the forum and it is really interesting and it really helps me a lot. Thanks a bunch for all the contributions. (Although, I’m still trying to perfect a model to post on ARC).

    Here are three questions that I would really appreciate some help with:

    1. In the Pretoria area I can’t find the highly talked about Future floor polish. What can I use as a substitute?

    2. The most common paint to find in the area where I live is Tamiya Enamels. (I spent about $500 in the last year on the Enamel paints) Although they spray really nice, I have a problem when painting with a brush. Another problem is health and safety due to the fumes when I spray. I don’t know if I must make a shift to Acrylic paint? Model Master and Vallejo are really expensive and hard to come by. Is there any other makes that will be locally available that I can try out?

    3. What will be the best thing to thin Acrylic paint with in South Africa?

    Hi fellow ARC'ers!

    I'm currently busy with the A-10 from Revell. I would like to know if anyone on the forum have any info or pictures relating to the ones of the 23rd Wing at Pope AFB N.C or 47th fighter squadron at Barksdale AFB La.

    Any help will be greatly appreciated since I really don't know much about the American Bases, emblems or Insignia.

  4. Practical starting kits

    Hi all,

    I would like to know from the ARC People which model will be the first to actually start with.

    I'm currently busy with a 1/72 B-17 Flying Fortress from Academy. It's really a lot of fun and time consuming but things just don't really want to stick together at the moment. Tooooo much frustration and I'm usually a man of patience!

    Can I please get your thoughts on a easy starting kit or at least a few that I can begin with to build up my skills!
