Where did you read that? All I read was about the F-35B

Nice, I skipped the F-35B since it doesn't fit my very limited selection of 1/48th jet builds, but the A model will come to my shelf as long as there's RCAF markings.

I hope the correct alternate parts are included for non-USAF F-35A's with probe & drogue A2A refuelling gear.

+1 to Mawz's comments. I also hope they do not simply repop the upper fuselage since the F-35A & C have a skinnier spine than the B. I plan to make a couple including one to present to the figter squadron here before I leave. As far as markings go, since we don't have te jet yet I will probably use current CF-18 scheme for now to represent an operational bird.

I'll definitely pick one up. I have an inkling to do one unpainted/unprimed waiting for the paint shop, but just couldn't tear myself away from making the F-35B ready for VSTOL flight. Just doesn't make sense for that one to be waiting for the paint shop, so here comes the A.

Why can't the 1/72 guys get things like this? :(

The APU exhaust is still missing, at least in Painting and Markings Guide images :(

As mentioned in the other thread, there's a noticeable step between the aft fuselage and the exhaust nozzle (like their F-35B). Not sure what's going on there?

That's the way the real one is. Maybe not quite as pronounced, but there nonetheless.

Which units will fly these for operational combat? I want this kit but dont want to put AETC decals on it. Interesting that Eglin is AETC for these. What will happen to Luke? Switch to ACC?

Luke AFB is the preferred site. Other options are Boise, Holloman, and Tucson. As I understand from reading the Air Force's web site, candidate for operational F-35As are the Florida ANG, Burlington Air Guard Station VT, Hill AFB Utah, Shaw AFB and McEntire Joint National Guard Base SC, and Mountain Home AFB.

It's sad to see the 33rd FW as a training unit now.

Is this the one that the RCAF would get if the project goes through?

The boxart shows the AIM-9 and AIM-120 mounted straight on to the pylons. I certainly hope they provide the correct missile rails for them.

If the buy still happens, yes, we get the A model. I am guessing 410 will remain the training squadron, with 409 and 425 as the operational squadrons.

Kitty hawk has a 1/72 section on their site so I hope they scale this one down. If the gentleman who runs Kittyhawk is reading this, are there any plans to scale the 1/48 kits down? Everything I have seen anounced by Kittyhawk are desperatly needing an update in the small scale as well.

Correct, with STRONG rumors that 433 Sqn will be stood back up!
