Remove front axle and associated suspension, get donor car and swap mounts and A-Arm assembly.

Sounds like a plan - I guess the hard part would be finding a good donor kit.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry it wasn't much help, also after re-reading your title, FWD meant Front wheel drive and not Four Wheel drive, I'm kinda stuck in 4x4 right now.
What exactly are you trying to convert, it might help if you explain your conversion,it's hard to guess since I'm not sitting at your work bench.

I would say all you'd really need to source is a driveshaft and the rear suspension bits. Look for an old Camaro or basically any type of cheap rwd car. Heck you could probably even use the pieces from a NASCAR kit but that would be a beefy rear end then.
Will the kit accommodate the shaft or will you have to cut and scratch in a new housing?
Depending on the kit's engine you'll probably want a transmission as well. Might have serious fit issues though.

One thing I was thinking about was finding a suitable chassis from another kit and swapping it in (so far, the best on I've found is from the Revell BMW 320i, but it's in 1/25 scale, and may be too narrow. Am checking on some 1/24 BMW kits.
I was also considering an AWD conversion as well
