It has been 15 years since I have built an automobile model and I'am apprehensive about showing this. Built straight from the box and using the kits decals(i would not use them in the future) and the color I mixed does not have enough metallic in it.

That red looks spot on. Is there really much metallic in the ferrari red? A beautiful job all around. Build another and join us in the gb.

What type of paint did you use? The polishing job is perfect, very glossy finish!

Thanks, it has been many years since I have built any f-1 kits and I''am basically lost with the correct color references. This kit was built right after Tamiya released it. Tamiya lists the color as mica red and I therefore thought it must be metallic color. Zero paints has a two part system with a silver undercoat with a red topcoat. I'am embarrassed to admit I wasn't sure of the color and just went by pictures of the real car. Dave, it is simply airbrushed with testors enamels mixed to the right shade, then I used the micromesh polishing kit( I'am a bit rusty as you can see the sanding marks in the finish).

I just wish I would have used aftermarket decals.

Great job mate. Looking like a very nice clean build  . The red does look pretty good IMHO. I did the same kit and painted mine with the TS mica red for this kit. I decanted it and aded a tiny bit of Tamiya lacquer thinner. The colour has a real nice tiny metallic pearl to it. Your polishing job looks good to me. I cant seem to get mine that good through polishing so i usually polish all layers of primer and paint and really thin down the final 2K clear coat and just hope it comes out smooth.

Thank you to all have taken a look-see and the kind words, I don't know what to say. Your encouragement has motivated me to try another build soon.
