Am I correct in saying that aftermarket decals made for the Minicraft kit would not fit the Skyline kit, especially if you have a full tail decal. :tumble:

That would be incorrect. Both the Minicraft and Skyline 737s' are both 1/144 and a 1/144 decal would fit either kit. Personally, I prefer the Skyline/DACO kits because they are more accurate in detail and shape.

You might get some trouble with the perfect alignment of door decals when the side decal with windows, doors and titles are one large decal (often done on aftermarket sheets). But that can be easily fixed by cutting it up to make it fit or by removing the door panel lines. You shouldn't get trouble with tail decals because they are both 1:144 737Classics with the Daco one being more accurate and better in overall detail.

As someone who has been doing airliner decals for better than 20 years, I'd have to say the OP is correct. The shapes of the vertical fins on the two kits is not exactly the same, and any decal that covers the entire fin has to be made to fit one or the other. Honestly, it's been a while since I did anything like that, so I can't say how much difference there is, but they are most assuredly not exactly the same shape.

FWIW, the aft cabin doors on the MC kit are about 2 scale feet too far forward, so if you use that kit, fill in the scribed outlines and put decals in the correct locations. Otherwise you can't get enough cabin windows on it, and things won't line up correctly.

You will have issues using the some Skyline decals on the Minicraft kits, i.e. the WP Simpsons jet. The Skylines decals were shaped specificaly for the Skyline kits. However, depending on which WP scheme you do, some will work either way. It's just the ones that do a LOT of rap-around fitting that are specific the the Skyline kits.
