Howdy All

Got a start on the L/70(V) camo yesterday and thought I would try out the Disc Stencil set offered by AKI.

Tony,

Nice paint and builds so far. Really enjoying it!

Quick question though, is it you just haven't gotten to it yet, or is there another reason only some road wheels have the rubber pads?

Thanks,

John

Morning John
Those front road wheels are intentional.
Models with the long barrel gun were nose heavy and waddled like a duck even going in a straight line and would rip the rubber tires right off the wheels.
They redesigned the wheel with the rubber on the inside with a steel outer shell to manage the extra weight.

They also trimmed the manlet some and moved the spare tracks to the rear to lighten up the front.

"Now you know the rest of the story" Paul Harvey said that.

Appreciate the compliment and the question John

Tony,

I love any "IV" variant, especially Jagdpanzer IV and StuG IV. But painting the rubber on the roadwheels drives me crazy.

Any advice to make painting roadwheels more enjoyable if not easier?

Excellent project you have going on here.

Ken

As painful as it is to clean up road wheels it's much easier to paint them if you use a circle template, paint the black 1st then use the template to mask the wheel and spray your color.

Ken that's the way I do it just like Curt showed you.
This way is a little slower than using one of those fancy wheel mask but it gets the job done.
