Jesse, this is awesome. The dullcoat and weathering also seems to have toned down the rivets somewhat  Might I suggest an epoxy rather than milliput for securing the wheels?

This is looking amazing! One thing, I believe the tail hook looks to be to long. You may want to try and fix it. Looking forward to seeing this one done!

Clif, thanks for your rap song lyrics, you could be writing songs with Eminem :nanner: The kit is more mentally damaging than it is to your pocketbook <_<

Thanks for the support guys

Jesse,
one of the most beautiful Kitty I ever seen!!! :jaw-dropping:
I follow all your build and...WOW!
Superb job on all the detail and the weathering is simply real! I tried the salt tecnique for my 1/72 Sundowners jet for the Centennial of Naval Aviation GB but your result are wonderful!

Good morning boys and girls,

As tomthegrom pointed out, the HB tail hook is about 2.5mm too long according to my reference photos. So I did a quick fix on it and here's how it turned out...

BEFORE
Posted Image

AFTER
Posted Image

Posted Image

Added a piece of wire for attaching...
Posted Image

Posted Image

And I think it's about the right length now... I apologize about the specs of dust, the model is like a dust magnet <_<
Posted Image

Posted Image

I then decided to redo the ladder since it just wasn't cooperating <_< So I took the PE and ladder rungs from the Hasgawa kit I have since I won't be doing a ladder again. I still need to find a perfect glue for PE parts... I spent hours and hours trying to glue these parts on square and straight. Plus the PE steps are demn near impossible to get right, since the angle of the steps are impossible to get both steps level with one another... so this is the final attempt and done, except for painting.

Posted Image

As you can see not much progress made, but that's how it goes some days <_< Although I am grateful that I was made aware of the tail hook issue  I can't wait to start a new build since I know my skills have vastly improved since I started this big project...

Maybe next week it will be finished ... Thanks for all your interest

/Jesse

Well modellers, it's been about 6 months and my Navy bird is finished

Thank you all for your support and helping me build a really cool F-14A :salute:
As soon as I joined this forum I realized that I could no longer build OOB and be satisfied
Here are a few pics for tonight and I will post more pics in the Display Case tomorrow morning :beer4:

Hope you enjoy my weathered Navy bird :D I learned many a lesson with this build and I suppose the biggest lesson is to slow down and take your time... I rushed a few things and wound up reworking my mistakes every time <_< I will be taking on another project soon, but first I will be off to the EAA events so I can decide which jet to build next  I also need to build a display case so I can show off my newest family member :woot.gif: Thanks for the good times and more pics coming tomorrow.

That is STUNNING! You have done an amazing job. One thing, I would check out the AIM-7s in the forward wells, they need to be more recessed in them I believe. SO good to see a squadron from the glory days!

Congrats!
I really find your weathering very effective and realistic. It truly depicts the look of those Navy jets, beaten by salt, sun, wind, water...Real nice.
