Thanks, just trying things out sine I have not done much natural finishes before. I have another that I'm going to try with a black lacquer base coat.

Thanks guys but I'm sure I will be playing around with this for years to come. I think I just lucked out on my first try. Was trying for a subdued look and I got it but probably could have achieved a more dramatic panel variation with a buffing type of metalizer.

Nice metallic effect, NMF paint jobs are one of my weaknesses. Once I'm settled into my new man cave I plan to take on a few to get some practice.

I think the difference is in having the sharp edges on the preshading.
And I got some more done.

Looking good!
Are you going to apply any wash for the panel lines?

I think you hit it out of the park on the tonal variation. I've tried it with Alclad but not with the browns, that really makes it look good. Congrats!

I started with gull Gray and then hit some panels with Gunship Gray I think. Then mixed some Dark Tan and kept adding rubber color to it as I went till it got dark. The Gunship gray was done to match what I could see on many photos to be a darker color. I just winged the rest of the panels with their tones.
I'm pretty impressed myself with the results also. I just have to get better at masking canopies though.

I think is the surface that is also affecting the final result.
A glossy surface looks brighter than to a satin or flat one.
