I'm doing a set on the ALPS (if I can find a decent shot of the lower tail) for my 1/72 build elsewhere in this GB, but it will only be the modex numbers, tail badge, nose badge and any unique stencilling. The black, grey and white areas and large hawk's head on top of the radome will all be masked and painted.

Thanks a lot yardbird!
Here is one of the clearer shots I have showing the tail section.

Have that one. Need something larger and clearer. And looking at that pic, I now also need all the crew names for under the cockpit, on the nosegear doors and besides to ECMO windows on the fuselage
And I note I will need to add the Bu No and VAW-120 titles to the decals too. Guessing you are going to want a set for your model when I'm done...
Perhaps someone will come out with some screen printed ones in the interim.

That would be AWESOME!
I wasn't worried about painting the stripes or even the hawk on the dish, but the idea of painting the Greyhawks tail flash, etc... It's a scary thought!

Aaaawww crap and here I thought I finally got some help.
Darn! This is where I'm stuck as well. There's tons of reference for any jet you can think of but I just can't find that much shots of this particular bird let alone any good detail shots. Even navy.mil doesn't have anything that let's you see the names. Dirt.
This is where i am with my approach in 1/144 so far:

If anyone can help out with the names: Pleeeeaaaaaaase!

I just saw this message. I had compiled information about this aircraft in my research files a while ago.
This info reflects the appearance of the aircraft in early September 2010.
On the port side, the name under the cockpit window is:
CDR Todd M. Watkins
"COWPIE"
The name on the gear door is:
MMCPO
AFCM(AW/SW) DAVE DEFONZO
"SILVERBACK"
On the starboard side, the name under the cockpit window is:
CAPT David Buttram
"RAM"
The name on the gear door is:
BM1(SW/AW) RICKEY BROWN
"SSOY"
Hope this helps,
Kursad
